A downloadable game

Have you ever played Rock Paper Scissors and thought, "Wow, I wish this were a complex tactical combat simulator and statistical nightmare"? Well, you've come to the right place!

You play as a duellist in a vague pastiche of the European Renaissance rapier-and-main-gauche tradition, sometimes called Florentine. One hand represents your rapier; the other, your chosen off-hand weapon. Each weapon uses a different subset of moves within an expanded RPS set. This creates asymmetrical matches and exponentially more outcomes to consider, but retains the split-second decision-making of the original game -- evoking the skill, luck, and adrenaline of one-on-one combat.

This started as a combat minigame for a different rpg project, and got out of hand. I've spun it off into its own project because I think it could be a decent combat resolution mechanic in its own right. Also I need to test this part and I don't have the rest of the other rpg done yet.

As I understand it, the current version (0.1) qualifies as MOSAIC Strict. Future versions may not.

  • More offhand weapons
  • Maneuvers and tokens
  • Maybe some flavor text and illustrations?
  • SRD for customization and hacking, with my calculations, design process, thoughts on balance, ideas for other implementations
